Premiere – Twin River, ‘Laugh It Off’ video premiere
The Snipe News is pleased to present the premiere of “Laugh It Off”, the new video from Vancouver’s Twin River.
Originally a duo comprised of Courtney Ewan (Slim Fathers, Vox) on vocals and Andy Bishop (Yukon Blonde, White Ash Falls, Red Cedar) on guitar, the group has expanded to a quintet. Rebecca Gray (Mode Moderne) is now on vocals and tambourine, Malcom Jack (Sun Wizard, Capital 6) is on bass and Dustin Bromley (Pleasure Cruise, Keep Tidy) drums.Â
“Laugh It Off” is from Twin River’s debut EP, Rough Gold, released this past summer on Light Organ Records. The song is a blast of summer sunshine, with an undeniable beach-y groove–perfect for these rain-soaked, storm-tossed times.
The video is shot in black-and-white in a 1980s schoolhouse, with the band performing in front of a grizzly bear image created by Daniel J. Kirk. Welcome to the West, a Calgary-based group specializing in visual arts, directed the video.
Video – Twin River, “Laugh It Off”:
Ewan, on her lyrics, says, “To me, the most impressive songwriter is one who is able to communicate a life story within three minutes.” Taking simple folk melodies and infusing them with Bishop’s powerful riffs, Twin River dances between upbeat, joyful harmonies and more ominous, haunting sections.
