The Jesus Lizard on a long-awaited reunion tour.

The band formed in Austin in 1987 by guitarist Duane Denison and vocalist David Yow, previously of Scratch Acid. Following its first EP, Pure, on the Chicago label Touch and Go in 1989, the group released a hard-hitting run of Steve Albini-produced records including Head, Goat, Liar and Down. They left Touch and Go for Capitol and released two more albums, Shot and Blue, and another EP before disbanding.

During their run, the Jesus Lizard earned a reputation as one of the fiercest live acts in the world. The photos from this show at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, part of their 2009 reunion tour, show the reputation was well-earned.
