Nico Vega was formed in 2005 by Mike Peña. Members include lead singer Aja Volkman, guitarist Rich Koehler, drummer Dan Epand, and bassist Jamila Weaver.
According to the L.A. band’s Wiki page, Volkman started writing songs while in high school in Eugene, Oregon. She met Pena in 2005, but he left in 2007. Epand joined the band as the new drummer and in 2009, the group released its first full-length album on MySpace Records. Strange but true: the group approached Linda Perry, who produced three songs for the album: “So So Fresh”, “Wooden Dolls” and “Gravity”.
