Not Attending launch party at the Waldorf
-by Shadi Maceac
Not Attending is a 24-page art zine devoted to excuses people have left on Facebook event walls about why they can’t attend. Michael Mann and Zia Hirji, the creative forces behind the project, compiled 200 legitimate (and not-so legit) reasons you can use the next time you are unable to attend a party, musical happening or friend’s two-year-old’s birthday party. The inside of the zine is printed in black and white on the “cheapest paper” the zine creators could find and stapled by hand so the “spine is likely off centre.” Not Attending comes in a cheap cellophane bag and is a stamped and numbered edition of 150.
A launch party for the zine will be held at the Waldorf Tiki bar on Sept 28. More information about the event can be found here.
Copies of Not Attending are available at the Waldorf souvenir shop and online here.
