Daughter finishing up a West Coast tour for its 2013 debut full-length, If You Leave. The band was originally scheduled to play the smaller Venue but was moved to the Commodore due to high ticket demand.
The English indie folk band began in London in 2010 as a showcase for the songs of vocalist Elena Tonra. Tonra began working with guitarist Igor Haefeli and drummer Remi Aguilella and became Daughter.
In April 2010, Daughter self-released their debut EP, His Young Heart. In August of 2011, iTunes selected “Landfill”, a song off the EP, for its Spotlight feature. The trio released If You Leave in March in the UK and this month in North America.
Since then, Vogue magazine named them an Artist of the Week and described their music as “a masterful blend of fluttering, heart-on-the-sleeve acoustic ballads with brooding, ambient soundscapes…” Mojo magazine described their songs as “unflinchingly honest and hugely captivating.”
