The Peak Performance Project kicked off last week. This week, on Thursday night, the annual local band competition featured performances by four new B.C. artists: Lydia Hol, Rykka, Rolla Olak and The Lion the Bear the Fox.

Lydia Hol has one EP, Boats, to her name. She was a regional finalist in CBC’s Search for Canada’s Best New Artist. She has studied jazz vocals and English literature, the later both in B.C. and Dublin. She plays guitar, bodhran and mandolin. She is also a member of Vancouver band Head of the Herd.
The Lion the Bear the Fox includes Christopher Arruda, Ryan McMahon and Cory Woodward. According to The Lion the Bear the Fox bandcamp page bio, the Nanaimo Daily News calls the trio “‘a musical force of nature’ to be reckoned with.”
