Video premiere – Catlow, ‘Lose Control’
– by Shawn Conner
Catlow have just released a video for a new song, “Lose Control”. On the Aporia Records release, singer/songwriter Natasha Thirsk mixes candy-pop vocals with fuzzy guitars, proving once again that the nineties will never go out of style.
The video, meanwhile, is combination of anime and neon-lit live action.
Video – Catlow, “Lose Control”:
Thirsk, whose previous bands include the Dirtmitts, has put together a group of veteran Vancouver indie-rock musicians, including Jay Slye (guitars), Squid (bass), Barry Higginson (drums), Laurel Borrowman (keyboards, glockenspiel) and Emily Bach (violin) of Four on the Floor and Dirty Spells.
The band celebrates the release of the song/video this Saturday, Tuesday Feb 7 at the Cobalt. The evening includes a reunion performance by Gang Bang and a set by Candela Farm. The live music is followed by the Cobalt’s ’90s dance party Electric Circus – which means, a) Yay! It’s an early show and b) we might have to dance to the Smiths later in the evening.
Check out the event’s Facebook page.
