Video – The Evaporators, ‘Mohawks and Dreadlocks’
The Evaporators have just released a video for a song off their latest release, Ogopogo Punk. The video is for the song “Mohawks and Dreadlocks.”
Nardwuar the Human Serviette, John Collins, Stephen Hamm, Nick Thomas and Shawn Mrazek currently make up the Vancouver band. Ogopogo Punk features eight new songs and comes as a digital download and coloured vinyl LP. The band has also released a video, complete with an intro from Drake, for album opener “I Can’t Be Shaved”.
According to a media release, topics on the EP include shaving, food-eating contests, the mythical British Columbia lake monster Ogopogo, and Skagit Valley’s Chuckanut Drive. Seattle cartoonist Peter Bagge (Hate, Neat Stuff) contributes the cover art. The release also includes liner notes and an ode to Nardwuar by Brother Ali.
According to the American hip-hop artist and member of the Rhymesavers’ collective: “I’ve had the pleasure of being interviewed and featured in some of the most incredible publications but the most entertaining and interesting interview I’ve ever had was with the one and only Nardwuar. During our interview he gave me the original program to a Muhammad Ali exhibition fight in Vancouver and several records. First thing I did when I got home from the tour was listen through the records and make a beat from one of them. I ended up recording this song. Doot doola doot doo…”
