Tennyson at Fortune Sound Club.
The Edmonton duo is comprised of Luke and Tess Pretty. Luke began uploading his music around the age of 13. Tess, who had busked with her brother, joined him soon after as the siblings began playing Luke’s music live. Live, Luke plays keyboards and Tess handles drums and percussion.
According to Tess, Luke’s music began to take off after he began uploading his tracks to Vsauce. Wikipedia describes Vsauce as “a YouTube channel brand created by internet personality Michael Stevens. The channels feature videos relating to various scientific, psychological, mathematical, and philosophical topics, as well as gaming, technology, culture, and other topics of general interest.”
Here’s the full quote from Tess, in a February 2017 interview with Snipe founder Shawn Conner:
“Luke was 13 or 14 when he started putting tracks up. He was submitting music to Vsauce’s partner YouTube channel. That’s how he gained a lot of his following, people who were watching Vsauce videos. People seemed to like it. And he was working on it all time.”
Tennyson has yet to release a physical album, though they’ve uploaded plenty to soundcloud. They are about to embark on their first world tour.
