Car Seat Headrest at the Commodore Ballroom, Vancouver, on Friday night.

The band began as a solo recording project by Leesburg, Virginia, native Will Toledo (vocals, guitar, piano) in 2010. Under the name Car Seat Headrest, Toledo released 12 albums on Bandcamp before signing to Matador Records in 2015.

Car Seat Headrest toured in 2016 in support of its album Teens of Denial as a full band. Besides Toledo, other members have included Ethan Ives (guitar, bass, backing vocals), Seth Dalby (bass), and Andrew Katz (drums, percussion). The group’s latest is Twin Fantasy (Face to Face), released in February of this year.
