Coachella Day 2 – photos and overview

As previously posted, Guttersnipe intern Terris Schneider is currently embedded at Coachella. These are her recollections, as well as photos from her cousin Krystle Sivorot.

Highlights of Day 2 included Broken Social Scene, Bright Eyes, Mumford and Sons, the Animal Collective art installation, and Arcade Fire. Arcade Fire put on the best performance of the entire festival so far. They played a long set and their sound was flawless.

Our fellow Canadians were so nice and grateful to be there. Both Arcade Fire’s Win Butler and Broken Social Scene‘s Kevin Drew (BSS played an afternoon set) were great with the audience, and the two bands worked hard, and gave passionate performances. My crush on Kevin Drew was reignited at full force.

I met actress Shailene Woodley, who plays Amy Juergens in the ABC Family teen drama Secret Life of the American Teenager, at Mumford and Sons. She was excited to be there and said of the band: “I love them! They’re my favourite!” She was enthusiastic during Mumford and Son’s whole performance and was dancing and singing along.

I was disappointed with the performance by The Radio Dept. I had been looking forward to seeing them live as I am a huge fan of their music, but they were really boring performers and put me to sleep. I was also a bit disappointed with the Animal Collective performance itself. The art installation was magnificent and a real treat for the eyes, but their music was such a downer for a nighttime performance. I guess I was too sober to get it.
