Hot Chip played the first of two nights at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver Saturday, Sept 15.
The London band formed in 2000. They have released five studio albums, including Coming on Strong, The Warning (shortlisted for the 2006 Mercury Prize and featuring the song “Boy from School”), Made in the Dark, One Life Stand, and their latest, In Our Heads. Pitchfork gave it an 8 and called it “a meditation on positivity.”

Hot Chip has collaborated with Robert Wyatt and Peter Gabriel (on a cover version of the Vampire Weekend song “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwass.” The band has also covered Joy Division‘s “Transmission” for the War Child charity album Heroes. A collaboration between the band’s Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard with New Order‘s Bernard Sumner entitled “Didn’t Know What Love Was” was released in October 2010.
At Hot Chip’s Sept 15 Vancouver show, the band covered Fleetwood Mac‘s “Everywhere.” Pacific Northwest art-rockers YACHT, fronted by Claire L. Evans, opened. You can see our photos of YACHT at the Commodore Sept 15 here.
