Milky Chance at the Commodore Ballroom, Vancouver. The band is on tour for its 2013 debut album, Sadnecessary.
The German folk group originates from Kassel. Members include lead vocalist and guitarist Clemens Rehbein, DJ and producer Philipp Dausch, and guitarist Antonio Greger.
They released their first single, “Stolen Dance”, in 2013. It peaked at No. 1 on charts in multiple countries including Austria, France, Belgium (Wallonia), Switzerland, Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary. It also won the 1Live Krone radio awards for Best Single.
Singles on Sadnecessary include “Down by the River”. The album peaked at number 14 in Germany. In 2014, SPIN named it their Album of the Week. The magazine described the lead single “Stolen Dance” as a “serenely rollicking crossover jam.” In October of that year, the band made their North American TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! In 2015, they played Coachella.
