Montreal’s electrofunk duo Chromeo played the Commodore Ballroom last night. The group is on tour for their third album, Business Casual.
At the Vancouver show, they played two encores and paid a small tribute to Dire Straits by including a sample from “Money for Nothing”. Interestingly, a Snipe insider who worked the show in an official capacity reports that the opener, Vancouver’s Humans, seemed to have more impact than the headliner. “I had so many people coming up to me and asking me who the opening band was,” says our source.
Childhood friends David Macklovitch and Patrick Gemayel formed the band in Montreal in 2002. They released the debut album, She’s in Control, in 2004. They followed up with Fancy Footwork in 2007.
The band continues what it’s calling its “When The Night Falls Tour” with Breakbot and Mayer Hawthorne.
